Coming off a 5-7 campaign and back-to-back losing seasons, the Longhorns look to turn the program around in Strong's third year.  Texas made some strides in the offseason, hiring Tulsa offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert as the team's new play-caller and reeling in the nation's No. 7 recruiting class.

But the team still needs to prove itself on the gridiron. Expectations are high in Austin with more talent on hand. And Strong knows he must answer the call.

"We're talented enough," Strong said "It's all about us coaching them now. There's no more excuses."

Texas still faces several uncertainties with a Sept. 4 date with Notre Dame rapidly approaching. Whether it's senior Tyrone Swoopes or freshman Shane Buechele, the Longhorns need to find a quarterback equipped to bolster last year's stagnant unit. And Strong said he's still hoping for upperclassmen to emerge and lead Texas' young roster.
