About Leander
Leander was originally founded as "Bagdad" in 1882 by settlers who had to fight off frequent Indian attacks before the Texas Rangers were eventually called in for protection. Since those early years, Leander has grown and prospered as a gateway community to the Texas Hill Country. Just five miles north of Austin on Highway 183, Leander combines easy access to the city with the feel of a rural - through quickly growing -- Texas town.
